Spot that plane
|
A new game for those suffering lockdown boredom.
Currently there are very few vapour trails across our skys for us to contemplate (I wonder where that ones going)
So much so that if you currently see a plane overhead its a novelty. But if you do and you have one of the many flight tracker apps it is really easy to check out where that plane is heading.
I have been sad enough to do this with some surprising results
Eg.
Tehran to London Gran Canaria to Aberdeen
What is overflying you?

Hah! I just posted on another thread that we are looking up when a plane goes overhead as it's such a novelty at the moment.
I'm quite close to Heathrow, and instead of one every 90 seconds or so (I think), it's down to a handful a day at the moment.
I saw a Virgin one a couple of days ago. Will have to try the tracker thing.

I read in a local rag this morning that Emirates plan to start flying again soon - but only to ship people out of the UAE.
A fleet of highly infectious A380s may be heading for a sky near you...

The lockdown stopped me learning to glide for real, so I bought a gliding flight simulator and have been happily soaring over the Slovenian Alps for the last couple of weeks.

Have thought for train-spotters who don't live near stations.
Crystal Palace territory is going into meltdown.

The skies have been beautiful and a reminder how they used to be when I was a kid, it wasn't until the 90s when the planes would leave their persistent trails, developing into a fog blanketing the sky from east to west, all day.
Anyone living in any surrounding town from an airport should appreciate this momentary respite while it lasts.

There's a C17 military transporter plane about to land in Calcutta, origin Kuwait. I wonder what that's about.

I also get a lot of military aircraft over me in the "wilds" of Oxfordshire
C-130s they look like, but not sure if there is something similar here.
Pretty sure the helicopters are Chinooks.
Last one I saw was going north-east, I believe.
